Thulisa Keyi

Who is Thulisa?

Born in Mdantsane in East London, 26-year-old Thulisa Keyi is our Miss World South Africa for 2018. After completing her BComm Accounting at UCT, Thulisa moved to Fourways in Sandton to continue her journey toward becoming a chartered accountant.

She is one of four children and says her mother has been her pillar of strength since her father was killed when she was 17. She loves exploring new restaurants and markets in Johannesburg, reads and keeps fit at the gym. She loves pasta but her payday spoil is lobster thermidor.

Thulisa entered Miss South Africa with the hope to be at the forefront of change and empowerment. As Miss World South Africa, she wants to enforce economic participation of women and youth and plans to achieve this through education. Thulisa enters her role as Miss World South Africa with passion and a giving heart, and determination to create a positive change in the lives of fellow South Africans.

About Miss World

Miss World is the oldest running international beauty pageant and was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. What initially started as a swimsuit competition, has grown into a platform for philanthropic and humanitarian work with Julia Morley at the helm.

The Miss World ethos puts significant emphasis on charity work and each contender is required to volunteer their time or raise funds for charity. This hard work and dedication to philanthropic work are what puts contestants in the running for the Beauty with a Purpose award during the international contest.

The enduring popularity of the Miss World pageant and the notable charity work done for those is need encourages the young women who participate to work together to make the world a better place.

Driven by her passion to succeed, Thulisa’s hard work was evident when she matriculated with distinction and was offered numerous scholarships to study further. Graduating from UCT with a BComm Accounting and PGDA, Thulisa is currently completing her articles with one of the “Big Four” audit firms to become a chartered accountant.

What does Thulisa do in her spare time?

Thulisa loves exploring Johannesburg for new restaurants and markets that she can share with her loved ones. She’s also an avid reader who doesn’t watch much television but loves a good suspense series.

Things you don’t know about Thulisa

Thulisa used to practice karate and can still count from one to 10 in Japanese.
